Newcomers Lunch Sunday 17th September 2023
It can be daunting for newcomers to join a church family. To help with this process, yearly newcomers lunches are held at St. Christopher’s Blenheim. The most recent was Sunday 17th September.
After Reverend Deo welcomed everyone, Guan held an icebreaker activity. This involved plenty of talking as we discovered the names and interests of those present. Most of us were happy to move around and ask relevant questions.
The catered lunch was much appreciated!
Children then moved to the lounge to watch a movie while the adults were given welcome packs and an introduction to St. Christopher’s by our vicar.
This included the historical roots of the Anglican Church, its beliefs and traditions and also the history of St. Christopher’s. A wall hanging created by the late Noeline Gribble was used to explain the earlier days of buildings on the site.
Information about various church services and groups was given plus social activities for the community. Staff and Vestry members were introduced and they spoke about their roles.
Deo expressed hope for a fruitful and focused future for St. Christopher’s. The welcoming function concluded with guided tours of the building.
