Haere Mai – Exploring the Christian Faith Together

Dear St Christopher’s Family

I am excited to share the latest updates on the Haere Mai Project, our church’s intentional effort to create welcoming spaces where people can explore the Christian faith through personal invitation, hospitality, and community.

Starting after Easter, we will be running the Christianity Explored course in small home groups for seven weeks, concluding at Pentecost on June 8th. Over the past few weeks, many of you have stepped forward to serve as hosts, facilitators, and group members, and I am pleased to announce that we now have six confirmed home groups, each with dedicated hosts and facilitators. I am truly grateful for all those who have committed thus far, including the 14 people who have already signed up as group participants.

However, we still need more participants, and I want to extend a personal invitation to the entire St Christopher’s Family to prayerfully consider joining as group members. The success of the Haere Mai Project depends on all of us working together and being involved. Please do not be discouraged by the thought that you need to bring a non-Christian friend or family member along. I encourage you to sign up, even if you do not have someone to invite. The Christianity Explored course is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual growth, and the fellowship and community built within the groups will be enriching for everyone.

Here are the six groups, their leaders, and the details of their meeting schedules and venues:

  • Garry & Lynette Stanley – Tuesday 7pm, Taylor Pass Road area

  • Rev Kevin & Sheryll Gwynne – Wednesday 7pm on Mitchell Street

  • Jackie Hall – Wednesday 1pm on McCallum Street (Springlands)

  • Steve & Lindy Scaife – Thursday 7pm in Riverlands (near Riverlands School)

  • Guan (Chinese Group) – Wednesday 6pm in the Parish Lounge

  • Madgeline & Judith (Filipino Group) – Sunday 6pm in the Parish Lounge

Please take a moment to pray about joining one of these groups. If you are interested, the best way to sign up is by contacting the group leaders directly.

Important Dates:

  • March 23rd: Second and final training session for Hosts and Facilitators

  • March 30 to April 13: Formation of groups and final preparation

  • April 20th (Easter Sunday): Launch Sunday

  • June 8th: Closing reflections and next steps

I ask that you please prayerfully consider how you can be part of this exciting initiative. Whether you sign up as a group member, invite a friend, or offer your support in other ways, every contribution will help make Haere Mai a success.

Thank you for your continued commitment to this project, and may God bless you as you consider this opportunity.

Warm regards
Deo
