Join Us for Palm Sunday and Our Holy Week Services

Dear Church Family,

Holy Week begins this Sunday with our observance of Palm Sunday, remembering the Lord's triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

At both our 9am and 11am services, we will begin with a procession of the palms. Please gather outside the church building, near the main entrance, before 9am and 11am. At exactly 9am and 11am, we will prepare for the procession with a brief Liturgy of the Palms, and then we will joyfully process into the church for our service.

Everyone is invited to participate in the procession, but for those who may find it difficult to stand for 5 to 10 minutes, you're welcome to remain seated in the church. Small palm crosses will be given to all who join us this Sunday.

Between the services, we will have our usual morning tea – a great opportunity for fellowship and for getting to know members of our church family.

Looking ahead to Holy Week:

  • Maundy Thursday:

    • In the morning, from 10am to 12 noon, we will be holding an Easter Messy Church for school-aged children and their parents (or carers).

    • In the evening, at 7pm, we will have a Tenebrae Service with Holy Communion and Handwashing, in remembrance of the Last Supper. During this service, we will reflect on how our Lord washed His disciples’ feet and gave them the commandment to love one another. “Tenebrae” is Latin for shadows or darkness, signifying the sufferings and death of Christ for our sake and salvation.

  • Good Friday:
At 3pm, we will hold an all-age reflective service, suitable for the whole family. I encourage you to prayerfully consider inviting a friend or family member to join us for this service.

  • Easter Sunday:
At 10.30am, we will hold a combined, all-age communion service, celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and the launch of our Haere Mai Project. Sin and death have been conquered by Jesus Christ! There will be a special morning tea starting at 9.15am, a great time to fellowship with our church family before the service. I also encourage you to invite a friend or family member to join us for this special service.

Additionally, on Easter Sunday, we will be celebrating the launch of the Haere Mai Project, with the introduction and prayer for the Haere Mai Home Groups. This is an exciting step in our mission to grow together in faith and reach out to others in our community.

I look forward to remembering our Lord's triumphal entry into Jerusalem with you this Sunday as we reflect on the theme “The King Has Come!” based on Philippians 2:5–11 and Mark 11:1–11.

See you this Lord's Day!

Blessings
